Happy New Years!

Happy New Year Peoples!
Hope you're all having a fabulous night and enjoy '09!
Throw some confetti and make loud noises.
Watch the ball drop and scream to your hearts content.
But most of all do something I have recently learned people need a lot of that I have not had:
Sleep!

For starters,

Hey, I'm Eilidh. And yes, that is my real name, don't ask. My parents did not make it up either. Although, I can picture them sitting down on a couch together with a peice of paper and just putting down random letters of the alphabet and deciding which ones looked best together. Unfortunatly, that's not how it happened.
It's a real name, obviously not in English. It's in Gaelic, which is the language of the Celts, nowadays spoken mainly in Ireland and Scotland. No, I do not live there, and no neither of my parents come from there either. If I traced my family history down till America wasn't known to exist to the majority of the world, we might be able to find something, but I never knew any of them personally, I promise.
I also do not speak Gaelic fluently. I know how to say a total of maybe six phrases, which I learned off the internet, so if you want to know more, don't ask me, go get your butt on Google. I know you probably took one look at my name, and asked yourself, how the heck do you say that? Well, I'll tell you whether you wanted to know or not, although, if you truly didn't care, then why did you read this far into my post? Anyway, it is not, I repeat not, pronounced like eyelid, nor like eliduhuh or elid. I have had it pronounced all of these ways. I want to know who would name their child eyelid, although I'm not really one to talk. And I don't understand why the h would be pronouned like that in any one's name! Eliduhuh? Ah, no. When you see the name Mariah, do you think, Mariahuh? I didn't think so. Now this will shock some of you, but it is actually pronounced like Haley, without the H. Like A-ley. Not pronounced like I belong in Aladin either. A- ley, not a-ley. Even when you spell it out, it still gets mispronouced!
The first days of school are always fun. Or the days when we get a sub, I'm always hoping that the teacher forgot to put my name on the roster. No, crap, well, here we go through the process. They read down the list, see my name, their eyes leap out of their eye sockets, and then they quietly murmer my name a few times hoping they got it right. They almost never do. I say almost because I had a teacher look at his roster before school started then asked one of my old teachers how to say it! Smart man, always liked him! Anyway, then I have to pronounce loudly, and they say sorry for saying it wrong. Everytime, I want to shout back, " Do you honestly think you're the first person to say it incorrectly?" I just went through school having everyone pronounce it perfectly. My name isn't Ashley or anything, it's okay, buddy. Well, thank you if you've read this far into my rantings. When I think of something else to rant about, I'll write again. Good night.
